Bio – Started playing in a pipe band aged 12, then an accordion dance group playing weddings and wakes throughout Fife. Progressed through Jazz, Blues and Rock ‘n Roll, then gave up playing for many years and got a proper job. (Biggest mistake ever – don’t do it!) Came back through teaching and got so jealous seeing my son and his mates gigging that I’ve finally come out of retirement and joined the Fabulous Courgettes.

Previous Outfits – From many years ago…

Harris Falls – with Kip McBay who started “Sound Control” and “Guitar, Guitar” on Keys and Alan Darby (Cado Belle/Clapton ’98 tours) on Guitar, The Brucefield Showband, Sierra Bonde, Shady Grove, Stage 3,The Rolling Suppolas (Magnificent Name!)

Near misses – was once asked by Ricky Jobson to manage the Skids and turned them down ’cause I never thought they’d get anywhere…

Influences – Donald MacDonald, Grady Tate, Bernard Purdie, Buddy Rich, Jon Hiseman, Nesbert Hooper, Billy Cobham, Tony Williams, Tony Oxley, Carter Beauford…..and so many others

Also plays with… open to offers…

Equipment/Endorsements

Played Hayman back in the 70’s and eighties, then switched to Sonor, first the Phonic and more recently the Force 2007 kit (left), although these days most gigs seem to supply kits, so it doesn’t get out all that much…

The Phonic is being broken and sold for spares for the afficionados who keep these things going (and have the muscles to carry them about). If you need any bits for a late 70’s Phonic kit mail me through the site.
